Rice University and the Rice University School Mathematics Project (RUSMP) were awarded a National Science Foundation grant in September 2004 in the amount $3,799,311 to establish a Mathematics Leadership Institute (MLI) to develop teacher leaders at 40 high schools in the Houston Independent School District and the Aldine Independent School District.

The Rice University Mathematics Leadership Institute is part of the National Science Foundation Math and Science Partnership Network.

The Mathematics Leadership Institute Lessons Learned Conference was held on Wednesday June 24, 2009 at Pin Oak Middle School. A photo album highlighting the first five years of MLI was presented at the conference.

The 5th Summer Leadership Institute started June 8 and will conclude July 2, 2009 at Pin Oak Middle School. The 2009 summer colloquium schedule is available.
